I had no problem from quote to fitting, found them very easy to deal with and always replied promptly to my barrage of emails .. I’ve not hooked up the caravan yet to see if it works, but I’m sure it will be fine ..

Don’t know what I would’ve done without the help from the team at Tom’s Towbars- had to get a new Car and in order to tow our Caravan we needed a break controller fitted which was impossible to do 1 week before Christmas. They offered a simple solution via a portable Bluetooth break controller rather than trying to find a place that could install us the traditional break controller which is fitted directly to the Car. Not only did this suggestion help us save a lot of money but time and stress as well as we only had a half day left in Perth to figure out what to do. So when arriving at the shop, they checked out everything electrical on our cars back end where the 12 pin plug was, to make sure we would choose the correct product. Once we arrived at our home some 1000 kilometres away it was an easy do it yourself install on the caravan A frame with a simple adapter to make everything work wirelessly- couldn’t be happier and so we are very thankful for Tom and his team to think outside the box and come up with the best no fuss solution for our dilemma. I wonder why none of the other 30 plus business we called ever thought of making the same suggestion 🤷‍♂️ Credit to Tom and his team for being creative and basically literally saving our holiday at the last second 👏👏👏 Cheers guys and many thanks once again for all your help and efforts 😊 Wishing you all a wonderful new year 🥳 Cheers Jim & Antoniette Naeger You guys rock 🤘

Frequently asked questions about class 4 towbars

What's the maximum towing capacity for a Class 4 towbar?
Class 4 towbars are rated up to 3,500kg braked. However, your actual towing capacity is limited by your vehicle manufacturer’s specification: the towbar can’t exceed what your vehicle is rated to tow. We’ll always match the towbar to your vehicle’s tow rating, get in touch if you’re not sure.
In Western Australia, a brake controller is required for any trailer with a gross trailer mass (GTM) over 750kg. If you’re towing a caravan, horse float or larger boat, the answer is almost certainly yes. We can supply and fit a brake controller at the same time as your towbar — it’s usually more convenient to do it all in one visit.
The towbar itself typically takes a few hours. If you’re also having wiring, an Anderson plug or a brake controller fitted, allow a bit more time. We’ll give you an accurate estimate when you book.
Yes, absolutely. Diesel 4WDs and utes are some of the most common vehicles we fit Class 4 towbars to. If it’s a ute that works for a living, we can set it up to tow properly.
Yes. If you’re managing a trade fleet or business vehicles, get in touch to discuss scheduling. We can work through vehicles in a way that minimises downtime.

This is probably the most common concern people have, and it’s more nuanced than dealers often let on.

Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer or dealer cannot void your vehicle warranty simply because you’ve had an aftermarket accessory fitted by an independent workshop. They would need to demonstrate that the accessory or its installation actually caused the fault being claimed – and a properly installed, ADR-compliant towbar is very unlikely to do that.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been clear on this. If a dealer tells you that fitting an aftermarket towbar will void your warranty, it’s worth asking them to put that in writing – because in most cases, they can’t back that claim up.
